Coeloglossum viride

(LINNAEUS) HARTMAN, 1753

Ευρέως εκτεταμένη στην Ευρώπη αλλά εξαιρετικά σπάνια στις παραμεσογειακές χώρες. Στην Ελλάδα αναφέρονται σπάνιες εμφανίσεις στην κεντρική Πίνδο και Όλυμπο. Απαντάται μόνο στην αλπική ζώνη. Χαρακτηρίζεται από τα ωχροπράσινα άνθη, τα μεγάλα βράκτια, το τρίλοβο χείλος που έχει τον κεντρικό λοβό κοντύτερο από τους πλαϊνούς και το γενικά μικρό ύψος του, γεγονός που το καθιστά δυσδιάκριτο. Πρόσφατες μοριακές μελέτες αναδεικνύουν την στενή συγγένειά της με το γένος Δακτυλόριζα, με μέλη του οποίου σχηματίζει συχνά υβρίδια. Ανθίζει τον Ιούλιο με Αύγουστο σε μεγάλα υψόμετρα.

Σημείωση: Οι παρακάτω φωτογραφίες πιθανά απεικονίζουν την ορχιδέα αυτή για πρώτη φορά από το όρος Φαλακρό της Δράμας.

Widely distributed to Europe, but extremely rare in Mediterranean countries. The references from Greece are very few, from central Pindus and Olympos mountain. It is growing only in the alpine zone and characterized by the pale-green flowers, the long bracts, the trilobated lip with the central lobe shorter than the lateral and the generally short stem. Recent molecular studies show the relation of Coeloglossum with the Dactylorhiza genus, with members of which usually forms hybrids. It is flowering during August and July, in Greece only at high altitudes, around 2000m.
