HAYEK, 1926

Σχετικά δυσεύρετο μέλος του omegaifera group, αφού φύεται με σιγουριά μόνο στην Κρήτη και στην Πάρο απ όπου αναφέρθηκε το 1995 από τον Delforge (La Section Orchidées d'Europe des Naturalistes belges. Spécial Orchidées n°8,1995). Παλιότερες αναφορές από την Ύδρα και την Αττική, δεν επιβεβαιώθηκαν και πιθανολογείται ότι αναφέρονται στην Ophrys israelitica η οποία περιγράφηκε μεταγενέστερα. Διαφέρει από την Ophrys omegaifera, λόγω του μικρότερου και σκουρότερου, σχεδόν μαύρου χείλους που έρχεται σε αντίθεση με τις παχιές και λευκές τρίχες,  και της πιο οριζόντιας θέσης του. Επίσης το ύψος του φυτού συχνά είναι μικρό, περίπου 10 cm.  Στην Κρήτη απαντάται συχνότερα στους ανατολικούς νομούς του νησιού και ανθίζει μεταξύ Φεβρουαρίου και Απριλίου.

Relatively rare member of omegaifera group, as it is growing with certainty only in Crete and Paros (Kyklades islands), where it was spotted by Delforge, on 1995 (La Section Orchidées d'Europe des Naturalistes belges. Spécial Orchidées n°8,1995). There are older references from Hydra island and Attiki, which were not confirmed recently and are probably representing Ophrys israelitica, a species described subsequently. It differs from Ophrys omegaifera, as it has smaller and darker, almost black lip, which is contrasting to the thick white and long pilosity and more horizontal. Also the plant is short, around 10cm only. In Crete it is more common at the east part of the island and flowers on February-April.
