H.F. PAULUS, 2001

Είδος με εξάπλωση περιορισμένη στην Ρόδο και τις απέναντι ακτές της Τουρκίας. Ένας από τους δύο εκπροσώπους της ομάδας blitopertha με ομοιότητες σε σχέση με την ομώνυμη Ophrys blitopertha. Διαφέρει από την τελευταία καθώς προτιμά διαφορετικούς βιότοπους (ημισκιερά μέρη σε αραιά κωνοφόρα δάση), έχει πιο έντονα χρώματα στον θυρεό, έχει ψηλότερο βλαστό και παρουσιάζει ελαφρώς εντονότερη κάμψη του χείλους κατά τον επιμήκη άξονα. Ανθίζει λίγο νωρίτερα από την Ophrys blitopertha, από μέσα Μαρτίου - Απρίλιο.

*Σημείωση: Ο James Mast de Maeght βρήκε τον Μάρτιο του 2005, στην Ρόδο, ανάμεσα σε πολλές άλλες Ophrys, και τα δύο είδη της ομάδας blitopertha και προσέφερε ευγενικά όλες τις παρακάτω διαφάνειες.

Species with restricted distribution to Rhodes and the opposite Turkish coasts of Aegean. One of the 2 representatives of blitopertha group with many similarities to the homonym Ophrys blitopertha. It differs from this latter species, as it prefers different biotopes (semi-shadowy and sparse coniferous forests), has more intense macula coloration, higher stem and more strong longitudinal bending of the lip. Also, it flowers slightly earlier, from mid-March - April.
