Orchis papilionacea (LINNAEUS) ssp. alibertis

G. & H. KRETZSCHMAR, 2002

Ενδημική της Κρήτης και πιο σπάνια από την Orchis papilionacea ssp heroica, για ανεξήγητους λόγους, η ορχιδέα αναγνωρίστηκε μόλις το 2002 από τους G. & H. Kretzschmar, ως υποείδος της Orchis papilionacea. Ξεχωρίζει από την Orchis papilionacea ssp heroica καθώς έχει οψιμότερη άνθηση, ψηλότερο βλαστό και αραιότερα και μικρότερα άνθη. Ανθίζει από μέσα Απριλίου ως αρχές Μαΐου. Endemic to Crete and more rare than Orchis papilionacea ssp heroica, this subspecies, for inexplicable reasons, remained unrecognized until very recently, on 2002, when G. & H. Kretzschmar described it. It differs from Orchis papilionacea ssp heroica as it has later flowering time, higher stem, more lax infloresence and characteristically smaller flowers. Flowering time: mid April - beginning of May.
