Ενδημική της Κρήτης και συγγενική της Orchis spitzelii, η ορχιδέα αυτή προτιμάει αραιά πευκοδάση και ψηλά υψόμετρα. Βρέθηκε και στις 3 οροσειρές της Κρήτης. Αναγνωρίζεται σχετικά εύκολα από το κατερχόμενο, μικρό πλήκτρο (μισό σε μήκος σε σχέση με την ωοθήκη) και την χαρακτηριστική πράσινη κηλίδα στα σέπαλα. Ανθίζει τον μήνα Μάιο.
Σημείωση: Ακόμα μια φορά, ο Βαγγέλης Παπιομύτογλου, έστειλε στο site τις παρακάτω φωτογραφίες του σπάνιου αυτού ενδημικού της Κρήτης.
Endemic to Crete and related to Orchis spitzelii, this orchid prefers sparse pine forests and high altitudes. It is growing on the three high mountain ranges of Crete. It is recognized by the small, descending spur which is much smaller than the ovary and by the central green spot of the lateral sepals. Flowering time: May.
