Ο εκπρόσωπος αυτός της ομάδας oestrifera, ξεχωρίζει από το μικρό μήκος χείλους (6-9mm). Περιγράφηκε πρόσφατα στην Ρόδο (βλέπε και την σελίδα της Ophrys dodekanensis). Παρόμοιες Ophrys της ομάδας oestrifera, με μικρά χείλη και σχετικά πρώιμη άνθηση, ανευρίσκονται στην νότια Ελλάδα, στα Επτάνησα ως και την Κέρκυρα, στην Αίγινα, στα Δωδεκάνησα* (βλέπε και την σελίδα της Ophrys minutula)  και την δυτική ακτή της Τουρκίας και πιθανά να αναγνωριστούν ως ξεχωριστά είδη στα επόμενα χρόνια. Στην Ρόδο, ξεχωρίζει από τα άλλα μέλη της ομάδας oestrifera, λόγω του μικρού χείλους και από την Ophrys dodekanensis, λόγω της οψιμότερης άνθησης (μέσα Μαρτίου - Απρίλιος).

* Σημείωση: Τα παρουσιαζόμενα φυτά, από την Κω, πιθανώς αντιπροσωπεύουν αληθείς Ophrys cornutula, όπως δηλώνουν το μικρό χείλος (7mm μήκος) και η όψιμη άνθηση.

This representative of oestrifera group has a particularly small lip (6-9mm). It has been recently described from Rhodes (see also the page of Ophrys dodekanensis). Similar Ophrys of oestrifera group, with small lips and relatively early flowering time, can be found in south Greece, in Ionian island till Kerkyra (Corfu), in Aegina island, in Dodecanese islands* (see also the page of Ophrys minutula) and in western coast of Turkey. Some of these may split from the rest as separate species during the forthcoming years. In Rhodes, it is discriminated from the rest members of oestrifera group, due to the small lip length and from  Ophrys dodekanensis, due to the later flowering time (mid March - April).

    * Notes: The presented plants from Kos island (Dodecanese), possibly represent true Ophrys cornutula, as indicated by the small lip (length:7mm) and the late flowering time.
